I’m Back!

April5

Hello again everyone!

I haven’t blogged for over a year now and I am in year 8. I have added a page for recipes and will be adding a page for videos soon. High school includes loads of assignments so I won’t blog as often but I hope I have lots of fun blogging.

In other news, Does anyone else share my love of the Hunger Games? I went and saw It on the weekend, apparently the second movie is coming out in November next year.

There are probably some people out there thinking, What is the Hunger Games, so here is a brief summary,

The hunger games is a book written by Suzanne Collins about a girl called Katniss in the near future where most of the world was destroyed by war and what once was North America is now called Panem, made up of twelve districts and ruled by the Capitol. Each year one boy and girl aged 12 – 18 from each district is selected to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal fight to the death in an arena.

I love this movie!

Digital Footprint

December1

What is a digital footprint?

A digital foot print is a footprint you leave behind on the internet. Every time you sign up for something, e.g facebook, twitter, MSN , you leave behind a digital footprint like a sign saying ” I was here 2010”. Also every time you comment you leave behind a digital footprint. All these small digital footprints add up to your one large digital footprint.

It is best to keep your digital footprint to a minimum and don’t give out any personal information, e.g. last name , phone number-mobile or home, street address. Don’t give out anybody else’s  information  without their permission, treat others the way you want to be treated.

Now you know about digital footprints try to keep yours to a minimum.

Image Tutorial

October27

This post is all about images– how to add them, where to get them and how to add attribution.

How to add them to your blog: First , if you haven’t already done this add a new post and write whatever you want on it. Next, open a new tab and search the web for images or , if you want click on my computer and find the image that you want. After you have found an image that you want right click it and press copy. Go back to your post and press paste. Voila! You now have an image on your post.

Where to find images: Finding images is easy, just go to any search engine and click the images tab. Type in what type of image you want and a selection of images should come up. If you want to add a personal touch then you can also use images from your computer. Just follow the instrutions above and you can add it to your post.

Adding attribution: To add attribution all you need to do is when you put an image or video on your blog that you didn’t film, draw or take a picture of you need to say that you didn’t do it. For example if you put an image of somebody’s wordle on your blog you need to find out who did it and say something like, this wordle was done by Bob at the bottom so you are not takng credit for what someone else has done.

If you didn’t know how to add an image to your blog, find an image or add attribution then I hope you have learnt how.

Images- Why should we use them?

October26

Why should we use images? Well, I think that we should use images because they brighten up your blog and make your blog seem more professional. The brighten up your blog so it isn’t just all text and maybe widgets on your sidebar. They make your posts more enjoyable with bright colours and interesting perspectives. Most people will think that if you can import pictures onto your blog that you or your blog are very interesting and professional.

Images improve your blog by making it more colourful and interesting. Some people may say that it doesn’t matter whether your blog has images or not- it still looks good but it’s human nature to be attracted to beautiful or interesting things.

Like for example a flower…..

or an animal…….

maybe even something fluffy…..

So now you can brighten your blog with images!

Challenge#4- Comment Guidelines

October20

I think that the correct way to post a comment is to address the person, write the comment and write your name at the bottom .

Some advice for commenting is that if you don’t like the persons blog or post either don’t comment or suggest ways to improve their blog instead of writing put downs. It just goes to show that you should always treat peaple the way y0u want to be treated.

I think that a good comment should look something like this:

Hi Maya

I like your post about challenge#4, I agree you should always treat people the way you want to be treated.

Keep up the great posts

Maya

Also even though this is not a put down you shouldn’t write something like:

Hi Maya

Great blog come visit mine at maya6.edublogs.org

Maya

There really is no point in writing something like that in a comment because if you write a good comment people are more likely to visit your blog.

Think about what I have told you and remember to write great comments.

Challenge#3

October18

For challenge #3 we were asked, what would be the must see places in your state or province?

I think that the best places in NSW Australia are

Port Stephens because there is loads to do, you can go to jazz or wine festivals at the marina in Nelson Bay, at Fly Point you can go snorkeling, there are great beaches wherever you go, from the top of Tomaree mountain there is a great view and, most importantly, everyone is friendly.

Another great place in NSW is Sydney, there are hundreds of activities to do there and loads of sights to see, there is always somthing going on in Sydney whether it be a convention, a festival, a special event if you love the hustle and bustle of the city Sydney is the place to go.

If you love wine, cheese or chocolate you have to go to the Hunter Valley Gardens. There is a chocolate shop with something for everyone and for all those wine lovers out there there is a wine tasting too. Not forgetting people who love cheese there is a cheese factory nearby where you can taste delicious cheese. But the main attraction of the Hunter Valley Gardens is the gardens themselves. Flowers, plants and trees are everywhere and if you are a lover of plants this is an ideal place to go.

So now you know where to go if you visit Australia, what are you waiting for? Go see Australia for yourself!

Here are some photos of the places I have mentioned.

Challenge #2

October14

For challenge #2 of the student challenge we were asked to answer this question ; When do you think that it is appropriate for kids to have their photos on their blogs?

I think that you need to be at least 12 years old and have parental permission to have a photo of yourself on your blog. You should also not write your name underneath the picture of yourself, for safety  reasons of course otherwise who knows what harm could come from it?

In conclusion I think that any pictures of people you put on your blog should not be named or at least not have their last names on the end and you should have parental permission as well.
